Who we are and what we do
Terravnova is a retirement planning firm based in Montréal, Québec, serving clients across Québec and Ontario since 2014. We work with Canadians who are five to twenty-five years from retirement — or already in it — and who want a coherent plan rather than a collection of unconnected financial products. Our advisors hold Certified Financial Planner designations and specialize in four interconnected disciplines: savings optimization, retirement income sequencing, estate coordination, and ongoing personal advisory. We don't sell investment products or earn commissions on what you hold. Our fee is for the planning relationship itself, which means our advice is shaped entirely by what works for you, not what pays us. As of 2024, Terravnova serves more than 200 households, and we've kept the firm deliberately small to ensure every client has a named advisor who knows their file.
How we work — and what we won't promise
Every new client relationship starts with a 90-minute discovery session where your advisor listens more than they talk. We want to understand your actual numbers, your family situation, your risk tolerance, and the retirement you have in mind — not the one a generic questionnaire assumes. From that session, we produce a written scope document within five business days: what we'll address, in what order, and what the planning relationship will cost. We work across Montréal and remotely with clients throughout Québec and Ontario, conducting meetings by video or in our downtown Montréal office. What we don't do: discretionary portfolio management, securities trading, mortgage advice, or business succession planning. Those disciplines require different licensing and different specialists, and we'll refer you to the right people when they come up. We also don't promise specific investment returns or retirement ages — those depend on markets, legislation, and choices that are ultimately yours to make. What we do promise is that every recommendation is documented, every decision is explained, and your advisor is reachable when it matters.
